About Buffalo, Wyoming
The Johnson County Tourism Association promotes travel across Buffalo and Kaycee, Wyoming, and the county that connects them. It's a stretch of the state anchored by the Bighorn Mountains, where Buffalo sits at the junction of I-25 and I-90. Kaycee lies about 45 minutes south, best known as the gateway to Hole in the Wall and the old hideout of Butch Cassidy's gang. The region's identity runs through cattle and sheep ranching, Basque sheepherder heritage, and a history of outlaws and homesteaders that still shows up in local museums, rodeos, and trail names.
Since the identity needed to represent three connected but distinct places — Johnson County, Buffalo, and Kaycee — the system was built around a shared foundation: the same typography and the same cowboy-and-cowgirl mark carried across all three, with the mountain silhouette behind each one swapped out to reflect that location's actual scenery. The goal was something wearable and rustic without tipping into dated western cliché — bold enough to hold up on a hoodie or hat, modern enough to still feel current.
